Who needs this?

You may benefit from mediation if you:

  • Are in a partnership "divorce" and need to split assets or clients without destroying the company's reputation.

  • Have a vendor or client who is interpreting a specific clause in a contract differently than you are.

  • Are facing a payment dispute where the cost of a lawyer would exceed the amount of money actually in question.

  • Value the long-term relationship with a business partner and don't want an adversarial court battle to end the professional bond.

How we help

  • Initial Assessment & Objectives — We begin by understanding your situation, priorities, and the context, including any risks or considerations involved.

  • Documentation & Review — We prepare, review, and refine relevant documents, agreements, or materials with a focus on clarity, accuracy, and soundness.

  • Advisory Support & Engagement — We provide guidance and structure as needed, supporting discussions, negotiations, or interactions with relevant parties.

  • Ongoing Guidance — As circumstances evolve, we remain available to provide continued advice and adapt strategies accordingly.

Why Choose Mediation?

The Golden Rule of Mediation: It is best suited for those who want control over the outcome. In court, a judge decides your fate; in mediation, you decide the resolution.

Frequently asked questions

  • What types of business conflicts can be resolved through mediation?

Business mediation is effective for a wide range of disputes, including partnership "divorces", breach of contract issues, vendor and client disagreements, and shareholder disputes. It is particularly useful when you need to resolve a professional conflict without the public record or high costs associated with litigation.

  • Why should my company choose mediation over taking a dispute to court?

The primary benefit is control and confidentiality. In a Kansas court, a judge makes the final decision, which becomes public record. In mediation, you and the other party retain the power to negotiate a settlement that works for both businesses, keeping your sensitive financial and operational details private.

  • How long does the business mediation process typically take?

Most business disputes can be addressed in a single 2 to 3-hour session. For more complex cases involving asset division or long-term partnership restructuring, we also offer ongoing advisory support. Because we offer online mediation via Zoom, we can often schedule sessions much faster than a court date.

  • Is a mediated settlement legally binding for my business?

Yes. Once both parties reach an agreement and sign a written settlement, it functions as a legally binding contract. As a Kansas Supreme Court Approved mediator, I ensure the process is structured and professional, providing a solid foundation for your business’s next steps.

  • Do you provide business dispute resolution for companies outside of Kansas?

While I am based in the Kansas City area, I work with B2B partners and co-founders nationwide. All cases outside of the immediate Lenexa/Kansas City area are conducted via high-quality video conferencing, allowing for efficient resolution regardless of your company's physical location.

  • How are the fees structured for professional mediation services?

I offer transparent, fixed hourly rates for business sessions. For smaller businesses or startups facing financial strain, we also provide a sliding income scale to ensure that professional conflict resolution is accessible before legal fees become prohibitive.
